Seeking Enough

I’m wondering … do you ever feel like you’re never enough? I think the easiest emotion to feel is that we aren’t enough. We aren’t smart enough, funny enough, rich enough, organized enough, friendly enough, talented enough, wise enough, schooled enough – Enough already! The enemy of your soul knows that comparison is the opposite of contentment. As long as you compare you will always come up lacking. We can get lazy about our faith. We can let down our guard and slack off while our spiritual armor gets pretty tarnished, but the enemy never slacks off on his deception.
A couple days ago I was in a group setting. There was no reason for me to feel like I didn’t belong there, was out of place, and should have stayed away. The enemy was working overtime trying to get me to pack up my game and go home. You know, I started to listen to the enemy accuse me of not being enough, but then I remembered something in Romans 12. “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.” I definitely needed new thoughts.

Be a seeker, not a slacker.

That’s going to happen to me again, more often than I’m prepared for. Satan prowls around like a vicious lion, seeking to destroy and he wants to destroy my joy. He wants to destroy yours too. In those times we need a battle plan. We need to be seekers, not slackers. When we seek truth, we have confidence that we are enough, we have enough, there is no need to compare. When tempted to compare get back on the trail of truth through prayer, a plan, and unshakable faith. Hebrews 11:6 says it pretty well “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”
Are you seeking contentment today? You can overcome the impossible – stop comparing. God provides exactly what we need and we are enough.
You know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing. Romans 5:3-4
