Oh brother! It’s only 7:15 and I need a do-over. I don’t remember changing passwords on any email accounts or any accounts – although it’s time to do that again. So unable to get into email I went through the laborious task … which means I now need to go through the task on my phone too. Oh! And I forgot about the automatic payments coming out of my checking account and therefore forgot to transfer money B4 the deduction. “Dear Lord, Thank you for overdraft protection at my credit union!” I thought I ran out of my favorite k-Cups brew ~very sad~ but things are looking up …I found a box tucked away in my cabinet. ~hurray!~
… Do you know who I’ve been reading about lately? I know. You think I’m going to say Job. He would be my hero if he lived today. But no, it’s not Job. And it’s not David. It’s Joshua. Right now I’m reading in the NIV version but am going to switch over to the Message translation next. Most of the time I read in 3 or 4 different translations or paraphrases. Why is that? Remember who I grew up with. My dad used the Schofield King James Version all the time for preaching but he used The Amplified Bible and the Living Bible when studying – plus commentaries. I don’t own any commentaries so I just make up my own while reading different translations.
Getting back to Joshua – Here’s why my scattered morning didn’t scatter me. And no matter what happens today, we can all take heart in knowing that we have the same advantages as Joshua. Here are a few key anchors to hold on to. From Joshua 1 “No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you. Be strong and courageous …Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you so you may be successful wherever you go. Meditate on this Book of the Law and be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.”
And that is only the beginning. Meditate on truth, take it with you wherever you go, be strong and courageous. You’ve got this! Ready? Let’s get out there.
