You're ornery? What does that mean?

Ok everyone . .  .UP UP UP everybody up! Rise and shine! Good Morning
“I’m ornery.”  Well, no.  I’m not ornery but that’s what someone said to me a few days ago.  I wasn’t sure what that meant.  When someone tells me they’re ornery I have to wonder.  Does that mean, “I’m ornery. Stay away from me.” Or does it mean “I’m ornery. I’m tired and worn out.” Or does it mean “I’m ornery. I need someone to tell me they care about me.” What if the answer is variable and depends on the circumstance of the day.  Life is a contact sport and sometimes we get beat up pretty badly. You know, there’s an app for that. No smart phone required. The application is found in Matthew 11:28-29 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. .  Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”
We get tired, we’re human. We are inundated by the craziness and noise of the world. We get tired mentally, physically, but most of all we get spiritually tired.  My quiet time this morning was in Romans 8. I’ve been praying for so many needs lately.  Friends who have lost loved ones, people I don’t know, but God knows their needs, people who are sick, others who have lost jobs, Some friends are struggling and they are just feeling ornery. God knows what these individuals need even more than I do.  This is why Romans 8:26-28 is what I am sharing this with you this morning. “In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God. And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
Whether we are downhearted or singing with a light spirit today, God’s spirit is in all of it. Ready for this day?  Let’s get out there!
