Weekend Crave

OK everybody up! Rise and shine! Good Morning ♪♫•*¨ To You ¸•♫¸.•.¸ ¸♥¸*♫*•.¸¸♥
Yesterday afternoon someone asked the typical preparedness question, “Got big plans for the weekend?” I was prepared with a most emphatic, “YES! I’m staying home.” In fact I crave being home. No matter how much I love being active and having a kaleidoscope of interests, I am thrilled at the prospect of spending an entire day at home. I’m already thinking ahead to what that looks like.  There will be no lounging around in PJs and there will be no peace and quiet – well except for the bookend times of my day (beginning and end) when I spend time with God. He pretty much speaks silently to my heart, except there are times when he stomps his foot and raises his voice, because I just ‘don’t get it’ the first time or the third.  In reading Psalm 81 in the Message translation, I’m reminded that God does speak when I listen.  Here’s a few phrases between verse 5 and 10: I hear this most gentle whisper from One I never guessed would speak to me: “I took the world off your shoulders, freed you from a life of hard labor. You called to me in your pain; I got you out of a bad place. I answered you from where the thunder hides…  “Listen, dear ones—get this straight; don’t take this lightly. Don’t worship the latest in gods. I’m God, your God, the very God who rescued you.” Tomorrow, I’ll read something else, but for this morning Psalm 81 was it. Now back to the rest of the story.
Stop by my place on Saturday and be treated to music played at decibels loud enough to compete with the vacuum cleaner and if you stand close enough to me I guarantee you will walk away with a Pledge sheen.  Later on, I’ll be trekking through the Internet to help out a couple friends who have asked for my perspective on their websites.  By then it will be time to spend my traditional learning hour with a good book. Which will I choose?  Nearing Home by Billy Graham?  Or Platform: Get Noticed in a Noisy World by Michael Hyatt? Or The Slight Edge by Jeff Olson? Or maybe revisit some of my favorite chapters of The Character-Based Leader.   My online reading club has started up again so there’s also Smart Trust by Stephen Covey. There is no lack of books on my shelf. Time to read is another matter.
I’m planning to feed my craving for home by staying home and doing what I love most – being home, working at home, thanking God for my home.  That’s my plan. Will it succeed?  Will it happen exactly that way? What if it doesn’t? Stop back on Monday and I’ll let you know how it goes.  This one thing I do know about tomorrow.  The sun will come up. I will start the day off just as planned – feet on the floor, coffee in hand, Bible opened ready to communicate with the one who controls all things – even how the rest of my day will progress.  I crave being home – will my plans succeed?  Psalm 20:4 says May he give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed.  What about you? Have you got big plans for the weekend?
