Love might not look the way we envision it.
What does love look like? Yesterday, in my quiet time I read Psalm 16:11 “You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.” Nothing in that verse says anything about love, but it feels like love, doesn’t it? The path of life … filled with joy … that comes from God – who is the source of joy. “If a person pleases God, God will give him wisdom, knowledge, and joy.” Ecclesiastes 2:26 And …
The more I notice …..
A few weeks ago friends on Facebook started talking about closing their account because all they saw was negativity. I couldn’t relate because at that time I saw none of that. This past week has changed everything. It’s been a struggle to find the diamonds in all that black coal, but listen – I’m still trying. I’m not going to quit trying either. I’m not going to close my accounts or stop using Social Media. The negative things of this life will never go away, but they don’t define me …
The Moodiness of God
I’m not sure why, but I decided to repost my first ever written post on this blog. This will be post #340 here on talkkindnesstome.com. Before you read let me say I hope what you read here today is not at all like what you experienced yesterday or will experience today. Instead I hope your day is bathed in the light of life and that you have unspeakable joy. I pray that for everyone who reads. There is opportunity every day to experience the moodiness of others; sometimes even the …
Happy 42nd Anniversary
OK everybody up! Rise and shine! Good Morning To You Good Morning To You …… and Happy 42nd Anniversary to my lifetime partner and husband, Tim. I’ve written about commitment a LOT and today that’s what it’s all about. On this day, January 16, 1971 Tim and I were married at the little church in Bergland, Michigan where my dad was the pastor. Happy 42nd anniversary to us. From the day Tim said to my dad, “Can I have your daughter’s hand in marriage?” and my dad’s reply, “What about the …
Is it tomorrow already?
Who else was relieved to wake up this morning and realize – YAY! It’s already Wednesday. Hurray! After two fabulous weekends of family, friends, fun, and festivities – we return to tasks we left in various stages of completion a few days ago. How we crave time off; hours of time spent with people we care about, but don’t often meet ‘in person’. Time to put the to-do list on sabbatical, or at least hide it under a pile of magazines till you’ve read through enough of them to unearth …
Life is tough – Pray hard
Today writing is difficult. I admit the tragedy in Connecticut yesterday is suffocating my ability to just move on, like it doesn’t affect me. The massacre of children and adults, in a community like ours isn’t an insignificant circumstance that hits the news today and fades into obsolescence tomorrow like the ending of a bad movie. This is real life and I can’t get past the same questions you have, that millions of other people have. Where was God in all this? Why did He let that crazed kid shoot …
