Happy Friday!

I treated myself to two extra hours of sleep this morning. I know…Out of character, huh? But what kind of friend would I be if I didn’t wake you up with a happygram for your Friday. And it is Friday.
As I was contemplating time with God today, I went to the book of James where we are told to ‘count it all joy’ and sometimes things we are called to do – and sometimes it feels like we are dragged to do – are not what we would choose. But there we are and it’s our life.  It’s hard to keep our faith alive while we get through the rough times.  But that’s what we need to do.  One thing we can do is ask God for wisdom and for discernment to make good decisions.  I love this passage in James 1:2-5 Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.
In our human nature, our need to think for ourselves and make our own decisions, it’s difficult to relinquish control. But the only way to have peace is to trust our unknown future to a known God.  Remember too what Philippians 4:9 says “Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.”
Ready for a great day? Ready to practice peace? Our mission field waits ….
