Take back your time day!

Did you know there’s an official day for reclaiming your time? Me either, but if you want to get your time back, apparently today is the day.  October 24th is Take Back Your Time Day. Seriously. Here’s the official statement from https://www.timeday.org In July 2011, the United Nations urged all member nations to make “the pursuit of happiness” the goal of their governments and (here it is) find ways to measure their success.  It further claims that “Take Back Your Time is a major United States/Canadian initiative to challenge the …

Unfinished

I hear there is rain in the forecast. Interesting fact for the climate, but what does that mean outside the atmosphere? Many of us are affected by gloomy weather. Cloudy outside and … well what if that created an opportunity to be sunny inside. I think of a candle that shines so much brighter in the dark than when it’s in a room full of light. Think of  how that relates to how having the inside right, makes the outside take care of itself. When it’s dark, gloomy, and raining, don’t we put …

Watch it! unfamiliar path ahead

So did you watch the debate last night? Let me answer that. No! I’ve been listening and watching the story unfold and history being made for the past what? 10 months or more? Just as a game in sports is never won in the last second, neither is this political race. The final point, the final vote will decide – yes, of course.  But the game and this race has been played out over the duration. A debate (battle of words) doesn’t change circumstances, values, beliefs, philosophy, or evidence. Instead …

Am I the only one?

I struggle.  I admit it.  Am I the only one at age 58 who still questions if they are living their life to its full potential?  Do we ever stop asking that?  Are we supposed to stop asking?  See?  I struggle with that.  It isn’t that I feel like a defective part of the human race or a parasitic amebae, because I am productive. Where I get lost is on the path itself. I look ahead and see a jungle of opportunity. I look back and see pools of experience, all of them defining …

Make Us Courageous: Men AND Women

The movie Courageous puts a lot of focus on the role of the man, the husband, the father in the home. True – men are the leaders in God’s eyes and are accountable to Him for how they treat their wives and children. Women are also responsible to God for the roles they play. I’ve heard and read comments about what that all means for women.  Never have I read in the Bible that women are beneath men or are inferior or are the weaker gender.  That’s all human erroneous interpretation.  God created …

Where can we find peace?

As soon as the news hit the world that Whitney Houston was found dead in her hotel room, the online comments started pouring in. Most of them were expressions of sadness and complimentary of her beautiful voice, popular songs, and her influence on other female artists.  But others stung with the attitude that she got what she deserved because she was on crack cocaine. When a person passes away, does it matter at that point what the underlying cause was?  Whitney Houston was someone’s daughter, someone’s wife, she was a mother.  …

Why does this blog exist?

I’ve been thinking alot about the incidents of bullying and the ravages of cruelty in person and online.  I joined an online writing group through LinkedIn and within a few days, I witnessed extreme bashing and hurtful dialog between two members of the group.  I’m sure they didn’t know each other on a personal level.  One of the men asked for help with his grammar and was seeking resources.  The other man jumped all over him with a vengeance for using the wrong link in the group to ask his …
